Terms of use

Last updated 10 October 2026

The short version

  • Hyve is a training and nutrition app, not medical advice. Check with a doctor before starting a new programme or diet if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are unsure.
  • You need to be 18 or over to use Hyve.
  • Hyve is free while it is invite-only and in testing. Features may change, and things may occasionally break.
  • XP, badges and leagues are just for fun. They have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold or swapped for money.
  • Play fair. Don't exploit bugs, cheat challenges or make accounts to farm XP.
  • Your data is covered by our privacy policy.

Who we are

Hyve is run by Tyrese Cockings, of 107 Dunsmore Avenue, Coventry CV3 3JF, United Kingdom. In these terms, "Hyve", "we" and "us" mean him, and "you" means anyone using Hyve. You can contact us at hello@hyve.ac.

By creating an account or using Hyve, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Hyve.

Health and safety

Hyve gives general training and nutrition guidance based on published research and the details you enter. It does not know your medical history and is not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or qualified coach.

  • Talk to a doctor first if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, an eating disorder or any other medical condition, if you are pregnant or have recently given birth, or if you have an injury.
  • Stop and get help if you feel pain, dizziness, chest tightness or shortness of breath while training.
  • Suggested weights are a starting point. Hyve suggests loads from what you have logged. You decide what you lift, and you should only lift what you can control with good form.
  • Calorie targets have a floor. Hyve will not set a target below 1,200 kcal a day for women or 1,500 kcal a day for men, the lowest generally recommended without medical supervision.
  • Allergies are your call to confirm. Hyve filters recipes by the allergies and foods you tell it to avoid, but always check the label of every product you buy. Recipes and product data can contain mistakes, and manufacturers change their ingredients.
  • Cook food safely. Follow the cooking and storage steps in each recipe, and cook meat until it is done.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or over and give accurate details, including your body stats, because your targets depend on them.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • One person, one account. Accounts made to boost another account are not allowed.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings, under Account, Delete account. What happens to your data is explained in the privacy policy.

XP, badges, challenges and leagues

  • XP, badges, tiers and league places are part of the game. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, goods or services, and cannot be transferred.
  • Challenges in Hyve currently use XP only. No money can be won or lost.
  • Steps challenges count steps recorded by your iPhone or watch through Apple Health. Steps you type into Health yourself don't count.
  • We may adjust, remove or reverse XP, badges or league results that came from a bug, a mistake, or anything that breaks these terms. We may also change how XP is awarded so the game stays fair.

Recipes, prices and shopping

  • Recipes are written by Hyve. Nutrition figures are calculated from published food data and are estimates.
  • When you import a recipe from a web link or photo, we keep only the ingredients and quantities. You should only import recipes you are allowed to use.
  • Prices and shop details come from third parties. They are estimates and can be out of date. The price you pay is the price at the shop.
  • Some links to shops may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy something. It never changes the price you pay, and it never decides which recipes or products we show you.

Fair use

When you use Hyve, please don't:

  • break the law, or harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
  • pick a handle that is offensive or that pretends to be someone else;
  • cheat challenges, farm XP, or deliberately exploit a bug (if you find one, tell us at hello@hyve.ac and we'll thank you);
  • copy, scrape or resell Hyve's content, or try to get into parts of Hyve you aren't meant to reach;
  • interfere with how Hyve works for anyone else.

You can report or block another user in the app. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Where we can, we'll tell you why first.

Our content

The Hyve app, its design, programmes, recipes and text belong to us or the people who license them to us. You can use them for your own personal training and cooking. You can't copy them for anything else without our permission.

Hyve uses some third-party material, such as icons and fonts, under their own licences. These are listed in the app under You, About, Licences.

Changes and availability

Hyve is in testing, so we will keep changing it. We may add, change or remove features, and occasionally Hyve may be unavailable while we fix or update it.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change applies. If you keep using Hyve after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

Our responsibility to you

We try hard to make Hyve accurate and reliable, but we provide it as it is, while it is free and in testing, and we can't promise it will always be available or free from errors.

We are not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Apple

If you downloaded Hyve from the App Store, Apple's standard terms for apps also apply. Apple isn't responsible for Hyve or its support; we are.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you live outside the UK, you keep any rights the law where you live gives you.

If you have a problem, please email hello@hyve.ac first. We'd much rather sort it out with you directly.
